Why we built Ember Verdict

Buying an outdoor pizza oven should be simpler than it is. Ooni, Gozney, Solo Stove, Breville and a dozen others split into gas, wood, and multi-fuel lines; specs are scattered across spec sheets; and the marketing rarely tells you which oven actually suits how you cook. We started Ember Verdict to cut through that noise with plain-English research and recommendations you can act on.

How we research

Ember Verdict is a research-led publication. Our comparisons are built from manufacturer-listed specifications and the aggregated consensus of published expert reviews and verified owner feedback — not from in-house lab testing. We focus on the factors that actually decide whether an oven is right for you:

  • Fuel & flexibility — gas convenience, wood-fired flavor, or the option to switch between them.
  • Heat & cook surface — manufacturer-listed peak temperatures and the largest pizza an oven is rated to handle.
